About the CertificateUse of Renewable Energy
The metal industry is increasingly turning to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power to minimize its carbon footprint. After nearly six months of planning and preparation, the time had finally come in May 2023. In just four days, we managed to install 338 solar modules with a total area of 660 m², oriented east-west, on the roofs of our manufacturing facility in Oberhausen. In addition, approximately 4.5 km of electrical wiring was laid to connect the solar panels to one another. The photovoltaic system has a capacity of 110 kWp. Of the 118 MWh of electricity projected annually, 80% will be used in our production. The remainder will be used in the future in a new heat pump-based heating system: in this way as well, FELDER GMBH will be able to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 60 metric tons per year.
Use of energy-efficient machinery and electrical systems
More efficient processes and technologies can reduce energy consumption and, as a result, also lower CO2 emissions. As early as 2022, we replaced the majority of the gas-fired furnaces in the smelting plant with modern, electrically heated furnaces that are more efficient and powered by electricity from our own photovoltaic systems as well as from external renewable energy sources. At the same time, work began at the FELDER plants in Oberhausen and Loffenau to convert the entire lighting system to efficient and long-lasting LEDs. This project was successfully completed in the fall of 2023.

FELDER Recycling
When it comes to the metal “tin,” FELDER GMBH ranks among the top three companies in Germany in terms of the use of recycled raw materials. FELDER Recycling specializes exclusively in the recycling of tin-based solder waste and has been licensed as a certified waste management company since June 2000.
ECO TIN Products
ECO TIN products meet the highest standards of purity and are manufactured from primary-melt pure metals. We guarantee that we use only tin from approved mines, in accordance with the “Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI),” in our solders.
